The 46th episode of Bob Dylan's

"Theme Time Radio Hour",

was about 'More Trains'.

During the show Bob Dylan presented two great gospel songs,

"People Get Ready" and "This Train",

both of which Dylan covered himself during his long career.

He recorded "People Get Ready" several times,

from the mid-seventies to the mid-nineties, and perfomed

it once live, in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 1991.

"This Train" he played at least twice, in 1961 and in 1968.

Here is an mp3 of Dylan's earlier version of "This Train",

captured on tape in Minneapolis, MN, mid-May 1961.

People Get Ready
The Impressions

People get ready, there's a train a comin'

You don't need no baggage, you just get on board

All you need is faith to hear the diesels hummin'

Don't need no ticket, you just thank the Lord

So, people get ready for the train to Jordan

Picking up passengers, coast to coast

Faith is the key, open the doors and board 'em

There's hope for all among those loved the most

There ain't no room for the hopeless sinner

Who would hurt all mankind just to save his own

Believe me now, have pity on those whose chances grow thinner

For there's no hiding place against the kingdom's throne

So, people get ready, there's a train a comin'

You don't need no baggage, you just get on board

All you need is faith to hear the diesels hummin'

Don't need no ticket, you just thank the Lord

This train is a clean train, you know, this train

This train is a clean train, I said, this train

This train is a clean train, everybody riding in Jesus' name

Because this train is a clean train, Lord, this train

This train has left the station, you know, this train

This train has left the station, I said, this train

This train has left the station, this train takes on every nation

Because this train is a clean train, you know, this train

It's the prettiest train I ever have seen, Lord, this train

It's the prettiest train I ever have seen, aha, this train

It's the prettiest train I ever have seen, now if you want to ride it, you must get redeemed

Because this train is a clean train, Lord, this train

This train is bound for glory, oohoo, this train

This train is bound for glory, I said, this train

This train is bound for glory, everybody riding her must be holy

Because this train is a clean train, you know, this train

You know, this train don't pull no jokers, uh uh, this train

This train don't pull no jokers, no, this train

I said, this train don't pull no jokers, no tobacco chewers and no cigar smoker

Because this train is a clean train, you know, this train

This train don't pull no winkers, uh uh, this train

This train don't pull no winkers, oh oh, this train

This train don't pull no winkers, no protruder, no whiskey drinker

Because this train is a clean train, this train
